Located in the bustling Wellington West, ëco is a modern take on the classic espresso bar, perfectly suited for the fast-paced, environmentally conscious individual. With sustainability and minimalism at the heart of this brand, we created an interior concept and visual identity that reflects the graphic, simplistic and message-driven nature of ëco. Using recycled materials, a fresh color palette and clean graphics we developed a brand concept that is modern, trendy and communicates ëco's ❤️ for people and the planet .
The concept: Minimalist, masculine, and eco-conscious. An unpretentious, quick paced espresso joint for the young professional on the go.
The Current Space: 129 Holland Ave. Formerly a pop-up location. Currently vacant and in desperate need of some Habitat Society love.
The neighborhood: Dubbed ‘Ottawa’s new it neighborhood’ by the Globe and Mail, this would-be espresso bar is located in Wellington West. The hip and happening neighborhood is home to a plethora of small businesses, eateries and independent shops. Wellington West has become a hub for artists, entrepreneurs, and health-oriented consumers, and its dwellers ooze of creativity and environmental consciousness. A variety of vegan/vegetarian/sustainable restaurants and shops have been popping up all over the place, which is why we know the demographic would appreciate some more ethical hangouts, queue ëco espresso bar.
Why we’re dying to go here: Bold branding, recycled materials, fair-trade coffee… what’s not to love?
We created a graphically cohesive brand identity, beginning with the logo which reflects ëco’s passion for community and the planet. Branching off of that, a minimalist palette was developed and appropriately balanced with clean, modern type.

Drawing from ëco’s simplistic, message-drive brand, we designed the packaging of the to go cups and bags with bold type that accentuates their eco-conscious voice. Following suite, the business cards are graphic and minimal and tie into the cohesive visual identity.
